Due to the time change (greatest day of the year), I was able to watch the Meet the Press Debate between Cardin and Steele this morning. Russert was hard on both, but to no one's surprise, more so on Steele. Basically, Cardin has to be just hoping November 7 gets here as soon as possible so he can hold off Steele. He looked horrible. I wondered at times if he was even there. Steele would talk for what seemed like 5 minutes, then Cardin would give some lame 2 sentence response. Also, a new WP poll shows Maryland Governor losing 55-45 in his reelect race. This despite the fact that 55% of state residents approve of his job and 57% feel the state is headed in the right direction. I have said it before, but it would be a real shame if Erlich lost.

This race might not be an upset if Steele comes out and wins.

No, it would still be an upset based on the Democratic tilt of Maryland it would be an upset. Not saying it cant or wont happen though.

The part of the debate where Russert pulled out the "Steele Democrat" bumper sticker was so funny. Steele looked so bad on stem cell research too. Cardin wasn't great, but I thought he looked much better than Steele.

Steele did struggle more in the 2nd half of the debate than the first, but come on Kyle.....Cardin made Walter Mondale in 2002 look like a young, enthusatic, energetic young man.

Cardin had the personality of a log. And his answers were weak at best.

I thought both candidates gave just awful answers on Iraq. You'd think they would have been better prepared for that subject. Agreed Cardin wasn't too exciting, but Steele was pretty bad. I'm glad our Senate race here in Ohio has better candidates than those two.
