Because it is Friday, I can go off-topic. I see that Pennsylvania is considering making I-80 a toll road, similar to the Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-76). And they want to raise the rates on the Turnpike - by 25% in 2010. That sucks. It already costs me like $26 to drive from Ohio to Philadelphia, one way, not including their gouging at the turnpike gas stations and restaurants. PA Gov Rendell wants to let a private company lease the Turnpike - sounds familiar. From where I live, to drive to Philadelphia I can take 76 or 80 - 76 probably a tad faster, 80 a little cheaper. Both are so boring you want to ram your car into the guardrail.
Did Strickland ever decide anything for certain on the Ohio Turnpike? I know he ripped Blackwell's idea of leasing it out during the campaign, but then said he was open to it almost immediately after he was sworn in. Does anyone have any news on this?
Of course, this is important to me, since I drive to Philadelphia to see the Phillies. Not what I wanted this week at Jacobs Field, with the Indians taking 2 of 3. At least we didn't get swept. There were a ton of Phillies fans there. Always good to see.
And to take you into the weekend, because I assume this is my last post of the day, I just wanted everyone to see the Marc Dann swearing at a reporter clip. Marc Dann is mad that someone asked him about his daughter working in the Secretary of State office, while showing up to a fundraiser in what appears to be his now famous SUV. And if you get bored, here are some refreshers on some stuff I have posted on Dann since he was elected after his misleading ad campaign put him over the top to beat Betty Montgomery.
Dann Appoints Cafaro to State Senate: 11/16, 11/29
Medicaid Deadline Missed: 1/21
Dann's SUV bought from Contributor: 2/8
Using Staff for Political Purposes: 4/9
Dann's Felon Driver: 6/1

Maybe Rendell can get the PA DOT to start calling them "guardrails" rather than "guiderails" like they currently do.
Remember, though, that gas on the Pennsylvania turnpike is still about 15 cents a gallon less than it is in Ohio!
that god damn mark dann, appointed that disguting toadie cafaro.
I now refuse to use the PA Turnpike. It's in poor shape, expensive, and has cops every 2 miles. I-79 down to West Virginia and across to Maryland is now my preferred route to DC, thus using the PA turnpike as little as possible.
Clearly no speeding in VA Jordan - especially Allegany county. Maryland is another story - pro speeding while shooting fireworks out the windows
Isnt that alot farther to DC that way?
The only thing the turnpike has going for it is the tunnels, and the novelty wore out on those when I was about 12.
I dont think gas is cheaper on the Penna Pike then Ohio....they are currently the same or higher than non turnpike gas prices in Ohio. Ohio Turnpike is going to have higher gas prices, because Ohio has higher gas prices than PA. I just went to gasbuddy.com and it looks like we here in Ohio are doing ok compared to other places
The Penna Pike is for "steves"
Ben:
Yeah, the WVa route is maybe 25-30 minutes longer, but it costs less in tolls and lower chance of getting a ticket. Plus, the stetch of I-70 in MD has some interesting name places..
Mike: Phantom fireworks in MD 100. While drunk 110
way too much info Jordan
