Gore Endorsement - ? - Important?

Washington Post: Former vice president Al Gore's pronouncement that he is likely to endorse one of the Democratic candidates for president before the primary season is over has set off a slew of speculation about who his choice might be.

Before getting any farther, don't forget that Al Gore endorsed Howard Dean for 2004, and that obviously did not end up helping Dean get over the top - his campaign crashed soon after. Anyways, does it really matter? Clearly he is not going to endorse Hillary! Clinton. Could it be Obama? His star has fallen as of late - I think even his loyal supporters would admit that in private. Would anyone switch their vote based on this kind of endorsement? I honestly don't know how Democrat activists think, so I can't answer that. The article says that Gore has met with Edwards, Dodd, and Richardson recently. I don't think Gore would back anyone with no chance of winning, so eliminate Biden, Gravel, Kucinich, and Dodd (even though they just met). So my conclusion is that it would have to be Edwards or Obama - who really are the only two who have a small chance to somehow derail the Clinton Express. I don't think it would be Richardson; just a hunch.

I don't think it really matters who anyone, Gore included, endorses in the Democratic primary. It doesn't change the fact that it is Hillary Rodham's nomination to lose.

Of course, there is still the outside chance Gore could endorse himself..........maybe even from a private jet.

I really hope it is Obama, but my gut tells me it will be Edwards.

my quess is also Edwards. He is the one guy that will go after Hillary and make it ugly and that will give him great satisfaction.
